Trigger Points are hyperirritable points of muscle in tension, usually indicating the presence of an acute or chronic psychomotor illness.
The name “trigger” comes from the fact that each tension point triggers muscle spasms or muscle tension in the respective areas, as well as acute pain.
The techniques used by the therapist include applying pressure with the finger tips, similar to acupressure but also strokes consisting of applying pressure with the thumb deep into the painful muscle tissue.
- Relaxes muscle tissue;
- Increases mobility in muscles and joints;
- Releases endorphins (natural analgesics produced in the body);
- Helps with depression and anxiety and speeds recovery.
